medical indication and effects

Lorazepam is a tranquilizer of the benzodiazepine class. Lorazepam is often prescribed for the treatment of anxiety symptoms or insomnia but it has some other uses which include: muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant or antiseizure (in order to support a withdraw from drugs). Lorazepam is available in the form of normal tablet or solution. It has a fast onset, which makes the effect kicks in soon after intake. It primarily brings feelings of relaxation with a sense of euphoria and slight drowsiness. The high would be intensified when it is combined with alcohol. Lorazepam is compared to it's close relatives like Clonazepam and Diazepam, as a more light-weighted tranquillizer which effect lasts for 6 to 8 hours.
With long-term use (longer than 9 months), the patient can develop a dependency and could have severe withdrawal symptoms when the medication intake will stop all of a sudden.

The following side effects are ordered by descending occurrence.
  • dizziness
  • blurred vision
  • speech problems
